DHL Global Forwarding has appointed Egidio Monteiro as the new CEO for Sub-Saharan Africa (excluding South Africa), effective immediately. This appointment comes at a key moment in the company’s growth journey across the region, and Monteiro will report directly to Amadou Diallo, CEO of DHL Global Forwarding MEA.

Monteiro brings over two decades of experience with DHL to his new role, having joined the organisation as a courier at DHL Express Angola in 2001 and risen through a series of operational and leadership positions. His long tenure and deep understanding of DHL’s culture and business make him exceptionally well-placed to guide the company’s expansion across Sub-Saharan Africa.

In addition to his CEO responsibilities, Monteiro will continue to serve as Head of Industrial Projects (IP) for Sub-Saharan Africa (including South Africa), further enhancing the company’s end-to-end logistics and freight capabilities in the region. This dual mandate reflects DHL’s focus on building both strategic leadership and operational excellence across multiple markets.

Monteiro commented on his new role by emphasizing the immense potential of the region and his commitment to driving innovations that support customer growth while contributing to Africa’s economic development. “I am honoured to take on this expanded role and continue working with our talented teams across Sub-Saharan Africa,” he stated.

Amid a global logistics landscape undergoing rapid change, this leadership transition positions DHL Global Forwarding to leverage rising trade volumes across Africa, build resilient supply-chain infrastructure, and deepen its footprint in one of the world’s fastest-growing trade regions. Monteiro’s appointment signals DHL’s renewed commitment to the continent’s long-term growth story.
