Bayobab, the digital infrastructure subsidiary of MTN Group, has entered a strategic partnership with US-based Seekr Technologies to accelerate the adoption of Artificial Intelligence-as-a-Service (AIaaS) across Africa. This collaboration aims to empower both public and private sector institutions with scalable, trustworthy AI solutions tailored to address digital governance, citizen engagement, public safety, and enterprise innovation. Leveraging MTN’s extensive data centre investments, the initiative positions Africa for a major digital leap forward that is aligned with global AI advancements.

The partnership is designed to deliver AI capabilities in critical sectors such as financial services, logistics, and energy, enabling businesses to derive deeper insights, drive operational efficiency, and improve service delivery. In the public sector, the AI solutions will unlock opportunities for digital transformation by modernising government systems and enhancing interaction between citizens and public institutions. This represents a decisive move towards creating digital resilience and fostering data sovereignty across the continent.

With global reports predicting AI to contribute up to $1.5 trillion to Africa’s GDP by 2030, this alliance between Bayobab and Seekr comes at a pivotal moment. Both companies aim to convert this projected potential into real economic impact by integrating AI into Africa’s digital infrastructure and ensuring access to advanced, secure, and cost-effective AI technologies. The SeekrFlow AIaaS platform will play a central role in making these models accessible and efficient, enabling faster deployment and innovation across industries.

Bayobab’s CEO, Mazen Mroué, emphasised that this collaboration reinforces Africa’s commitment to digital evolution, with AI as a catalyst for inclusive growth and technological leadership. Similarly, Seekr’s president, Rob Clark, highlighted the importance of delivering accurate, reliable, and transparent AI outputs to support critical decision-making processes across the continent. The strong alignment in their mission reflects a shared vision of delivering technology that drives meaningful value for society and the economy.

As AI competition intensifies globally, Africa is positioning itself not just as a consumer of AI technologies, but as a co-creator of intelligent infrastructure that serves the needs of its people and industries. The Bayobab-Seekr partnership marks a defining step towards unlocking Africa’s full digital potential, strengthening local economies, and placing the continent at the forefront of AI-driven transformation.
