Kaspersky has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Nigeria’s National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA) to strengthen cybersecurity across the country. The partnership, announced at GITEX Nigeria 2025, aims to help businesses, government institutions, and individuals improve their preparedness against cyberthreats while raising awareness about the importance of cybersecurity in an increasingly complex digital landscape.

As the national agency responsible for regulating and developing IT practices, standards, and infrastructure in Nigeria, NITDA plays a central role in safeguarding the country’s digital ecosystem. Under the MoU, Kaspersky and NITDA will collaborate in four key areas: information sharing, training, awareness creation, and strengthening the cybersecurity posture of critical infrastructures. This aligns with Nigeria’s push to build resilience and security as it accelerates its digital transformation.

Through this collaboration, Kaspersky and NITDA will exchange technical intelligence, data feeds, and insights into cyberthreats targeting businesses, citizens, and government entities. Kaspersky will also provide advisory input to support NITDA in shaping frameworks and standards designed to protect critical national information infrastructure, which is vital to sustaining Nigeria’s economic and digital ambitions.

Beyond technical collaboration, the partnership also seeks to build public awareness of cybersecurity practices. Kaspersky and NITDA will integrate cybersecurity education into ongoing digital literacy campaigns, targeting diverse audiences such as parents, children, and businesses. Notably, tools such as Kaspersky’s Cybersecurity Alphabet will be used to make cybersecurity education accessible and engaging, helping individuals understand IT hygiene principles in simple, memorable formats.

Kaspersky brings with it a strong history of collaboration with global and regional security organizations, including INTERPOL and AFRIPOL, as well as partnerships with regulators and emergency response teams in multiple countries. By joining forces with NITDA, the company extends its mission of making digitalisation safe and sustainable, ensuring that Nigeria’s rapid growth in technology adoption does not come at the expense of security.

This partnership is a significant milestone in building a safe and secure digital ecosystem for Nigeria. By combining global expertise with local knowledge and leadership, Kaspersky and NITDA are setting the foundation for improved cybersecurity resilience, public awareness, and stronger frameworks to protect citizens and businesses against rising cyber risks.
