Egypt’s Intella, the market leader in dialectal Arabic speech intelligence, has successfully raised US\$12.5 million in an oversubscribed Series A round. The investment is set to accelerate the company’s mission of building advanced AI models tailored to Arabic dialects, while also strengthening enterprise capabilities and driving expansion across the MENA region. This milestone follows a US\$3.4 million pre-Series A round in October 2023, underscoring investor confidence in Intella’s vision and growth trajectory.
Founded in 2021 by Nour AlTaher and Omar Mansour, Intella has quickly positioned itself as a pioneer in Arabic-first AI models, addressing the nuanced needs of enterprise contact centers in the region. Its proprietary solutions, including a dialectal ASR engine and conversational AI agent Ziila, empower businesses to analyse customer interactions, improve satisfaction, and optimise operations. This places Intella at the forefront of transforming how enterprises engage with customers in the Arabic-speaking world.
The Series A round was led by Prosus, with participation from 500 Global, Wa’ed Ventures, Hala Ventures, Idrisi Ventures, and HearstLab, the investment arm of Hearst Corporation. Prosus brings a wealth of expertise and resources to the table, providing Intella with strong backing to accelerate its R\&D initiatives, expand its product suite, and scale its workforce to meet growing demand.
A standout achievement for Intella has been its speech-to-text models, which are tailored to more than 25 Arabic dialects and have achieved a record global accuracy rate of 95.73 per cent. This level of precision allows enterprises to move beyond generic AI and deliver highly localised, natural, and human-like conversations at scale. Such technological breakthroughs cement Intella’s position as a global leader in speech intelligence innovation.
With the fresh funding, Intella is doubling down on product expansion and regional hiring, ensuring it remains ahead of the curve in shaping the future of Arabic AI. The company’s vision of building a digital AI workforce tailored for the Arabic-speaking market is closer than ever, enabling businesses to turn previously untapped “dark data” into actionable insights and strategic assets.
According to CEO Nour AlTaher, the journey has always been about bridging the gap between global AI advancements and the Arabic-speaking world. This new investment represents not only validation of Intella’s groundbreaking technology but also a springboard for the company to amplify its mission and impact across the MENA region and beyond.
