MTN Group has announced significant leadership changes at MTN South Africa (MTN SA), reflecting its wider Group strategy to strengthen performance and reinforce market leadership. Effective 1 November 2025, Ferdi Moolman will step into the role of CEO and Executive Director of MTN SA, succeeding Charles Molapisi. Moolman, a seasoned leader who previously served as CEO of MTN Nigeria, will be tasked with accelerating growth and driving stronger returns in MTN’s largest market. He will be supported by Yolanda Cuba CA(SA), who takes on the role of Deputy CEO and Executive Director of MTN SA, after an impactful tenure as Vice President for Southern and East Africa.
In addition to executive changes, MTN SA will also undergo a governance transition. Sindisiwe Mabaso-Koyana will become Chairperson of MTN SA in the first quarter of 2026, succeeding Mike Harper, who retires after a decade of impactful leadership. These leadership appointments mark one of the most significant shifts for MTN SA in recent years, signaling the Group’s commitment to renewal and a strengthened approach in its South African operations.
At Group level, MTN is sharpening its focus beyond Ambition 2025, consolidating its strategy around three core growth platforms: Connectivity, Fintech, and Digital Infrastructure. Charles Molapisi returns to the Group Executive Committee as Chief Technology and Information Officer, with a renewed focus on driving artificial intelligence adoption. Dr. Karl Olutokun Toriola, CEO of MTN Nigeria, expands his remit as Vice President for Francophone Africa, while Ebenezer Twum Asante takes leadership as VP of Ghana, Southern and East Africa. Additionally, Mazen Mroué will dedicate his efforts to scaling Digital Infrastructure across fibre, data centres, and satellite, while Selorm Adadevoh assumes the role of Chief Commercial, Strategy and Transformation Officer.
These appointments not only highlight the depth of leadership talent within MTN but also reflect the Group’s ambition to execute its growth strategy with greater precision and speed. By aligning leadership roles with the evolving strategic priorities, MTN is positioning itself to create sustainable value, strengthen its competitive edge, and reinforce its role as a leading player in Africa’s digital and connectivity ecosystem. The transition underscores the Group’s commitment to innovation, digital expansion, and inclusive growth across its markets.
