Bayobab has signed a strategic five-year agreement with Infobip to enhance SMS connectivity across Africa. Through this partnership, Bayobab will leverage Infobip’s Communication Platform as a Service (CPaaS) Customer Modules and Routing management to streamline campaign management, API integrations, and analytics, ensuring seamless SMS delivery across the continent.
As part of the agreement, Bayobab, a subsidiary of MTN Group, will also gain access to Infobip’s advanced security solutions, including firewall protection, to safeguard mobile subscribers. This move underscores Bayobab’s commitment to enhancing security and efficiency in mobile messaging while reducing administrative complexities.
Bayobab operates one of Africa’s most extensive connectivity infrastructures, boasting over 115,000 km of fiber and managing access to 24 subsea cables and over 70 Points of Presence across Africa, Europe, and Asia. By integrating Infobip’s CPaaS capabilities, the company is simplifying SMS termination processes, allowing brands and aggregators to connect securely with MTN and other operators through a single access point.
Traditionally, brands had to integrate separately with each Mobile Network Operator within the MTN Group to send SMS messages. With Infobip’s CPaaS enablement, Bayobab is transforming this process, offering enhanced control, security, and efficiency. The result is a more seamless, cost-effective, and scalable solution for brands, mobile operators, and end-users.
