Telkom is proud to renew its partnership with ITWeb Brainstorm and the Wired4Women technology forum by endorsing the Wired4Women Awards for a second year in 2025. Following last year’s successful collaboration, Telkom will continue its role as the lead sponsor for the prestigious event, which highlights the remarkable contributions of women in South Africa’s tech sector. The awards cover a broad spectrum of roles, from CIOs and tech company leaders to entrepreneurs, innovators, rising stars, and emerging students.

Gugu Mthembu, Chief Marketing Officer at Telkom, expressed the company’s honor in continuing its sponsorship, emphasizing Telkom’s ongoing commitment to promoting diversity and inclusion in the tech industry. She stated, “These awards resonate with our mission to highlight the contributions of women in technology and inspire future generations of female leaders. By celebrating innovation and leadership in ICT, we aim to foster an environment where talent knows no boundaries and opportunities are accessible to all.”

The Wired4Women initiative plays a critical role in improving gender balance within the tech sector by fostering a supportive community of women. It provides mentorship, training, and resources to encourage more women to pursue careers in technology. The addition of the awards further extends this mission, ensuring that female role models in ICT are recognized and celebrated.

Telkom’s Mthembu joins the esteemed judging panel for the 2025 awards, alongside members of the Wired4Women Forum board, ITWeb senior editors, past award winners, and other industry leaders. A rigorous adjudication process will follow the announcement of finalists in February, culminating in the unveiling of winners across 13 award categories at the Wired4Women Awards Banquet in Johannesburg on April 3, 2025.

As part of its sponsorship, Telkom is also supporting two key award categories: CIO of the Year, which honors an exceptional leader who has driven her organization’s digital transformation, and Top Tech Innovator, recognizing an original thinker who has leveraged technology to address significant industry or social challenges.

The 2025 Wired4Women Awards are now accepting nominations. Telkom calls upon all members of South Africa’s tech community to submit nominations for outstanding women in the industry by the close of business on January 31, 2025. Help celebrate female leadership and innovation in the tech sector by reviewing the awards criteria and nominating the women who inspire you.
