MTN Nigeria Names Yahaya Ibrahim as CTO, Onyinye Ikenna-Emeka as CMO

MTN Nigeria has announced two strategic appointments to its executive team, reinforcing its leadership in technology and marketing. Yahaya Ibrahim has been named Chief Technical Officer (CTO), while Onyinye Ikenna-Emeka steps into the role of Chief Marketing Officer (CMO). These appointments, effective October 14, 2024, mark a significant milestone in MTN Nigeria’s journey toward technological innovation and market leadership.

Yahaya Ibrahim, a veteran at MTN since 2002, has played a crucial role in pioneering the deployment of Nigeria’s first 4G and 5G networks. His tenure as General Manager of Network Implementation in 2015 saw the rollout of over 37,000 kilometers of fiber optic infrastructure, a transformative milestone for the telecommunications sector. His academic and professional background includes a Bachelor’s degree in Statistics from the University of Abuja, a Master’s in Telecommunications from Birmingham City University, and executive management programs at Lagos Business School and Harvard Business School.

Onyinye Ikenna-Emeka, who takes over as CMO from Adia Sohwo, brings a wealth of experience and a track record of success since joining MTN in 2001. Her leadership roles have spanned Corporate Sales, Enterprise Sales, Enterprise Marketing, and Fixed Broadband, culminating in her most recent position as Chief Broadband Officer. Notably, she spearheaded the growth of MTN’s fixed broadband business, including Fixed Wireless Access (FWA) and Fibre To The Home (FTTH), expanding the subscriber base to over 3 million.

Ikenna-Emeka’s academic accomplishments are equally impressive. She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Geology from the University of Calabar and an MBA in General Management from the University of Manchester. As a Fellow of the National Institute of Marketing of Nigeria (NIMN) and the Institute of Sales and Marketing Management of Nigeria (ISMMN), she has consistently demonstrated her commitment to professional excellence. Her ongoing pursuit of a Doctor of Business Administration (DBA) at Cranfield University underscores her dedication to continuous learning and innovation.
