Clear Blue Technologies International has partnered with Growth Energy to power a network of telecom facilities across Africa, marking a significant step towards replacing traditional diesel generator-based systems with clean, reliable, and cost-effective solar energy solutions. Growth Energy, known for developing, financing, and managing renewable energy power plants, has selected Clear Blue as its original equipment manufacturer partner, leveraging Clear Blue’s Esite-Micro power technology and Illumience Smart Power management service for this ambitious project.
This collaboration is poised to transform telecom infrastructure across Africa, aligning with the continent-wide shift towards sustainable energy. Growth Energy, with a strong presence in France, Kenya, Nigeria, Burundi, and Zanzibar, is well-positioned to deploy and manage these advanced power solutions, which aim to deliver uninterrupted, eco-friendly power to mission-critical systems such as telecom, security, and Internet of Things devices.
The partnership is moving forward rapidly, with contract discussions nearing completion and preparations underway for funding, engineering, procurement, and construction phases. Phase one of the project is set to commence in 2024, followed by two additional stages through 2026, with the total value expected to reach $4 million. This phased approach allows for a scalable and sustainable roll-out of the technology across the targeted telecom sites.
Clear Blue’s CEO, Miriam Tuerk, emphasized the transformative impact of this project, noting that it exemplifies Africa’s ongoing efforts to transition away from polluting diesel systems towards renewable solar energy. The collaboration showcases how innovative technology can not only reduce costs but also significantly lower environmental footprints, setting a new standard for telecom infrastructure in the region.
John Okoro, Managing Director of Growth Energy, highlighted the strategic alignment between the two companies, particularly in meeting aggressive cost targets without compromising on quality. Clear Blue’s expertise in managing and operating these systems will be crucial during the long-term operation and maintenance phases, ensuring the project’s performance meets and exceeds expectations, while delivering sustained benefits to the telecom sector.
This partnership between Clear Blue Technologies and Growth Energy represents a major leap forward in Africa’s renewable energy journey. By integrating cutting-edge smart power technology into telecom infrastructure, the two companies are not only enhancing service reliability but also supporting broader sustainability goals, positioning Africa as a leader in green energy adoption.
