The Global Africa Business Initiative (GABI) has unveiled its lineup and programme for the annual two-day event scheduled for September 25-26 in New York, held on the margins of the UN General Assembly. This year’s event, themed “Unstoppable Africa: The Solution for a Global Future,” aims to spotlight Africa’s pivotal role in shaping global business solutions alongside the Summit of the Future.
The forum will showcase Africa’s economic resilience and immense potential while presenting innovative solutions to pressing global challenges. GABI’s statement emphasizes that the event will address critical issues such as energy transitions, sustainable power access, digital transformation, and inclusive growth. These discussions will underscore Africa’s leadership in the quest for a more equitable and sustainable global future.
UN Global Compact CEO and Assistant Secretary General Sanda Ojiambo highlighted Africa’s substantial market value, projected GDP growth, and its role in driving global economic development. She emphasized that GABI seeks to rebalance the global business approach by fostering a platform that convenes, connects, catalyzes, and conveys Africa’s business future.
The event will focus on key themes including unlocking inclusive growth through trade, harnessing Africa’s potential in clean energy, and advancing the continent’s digital revolution. Discussions will also cover the burgeoning sports industry as a socio-economic driver and celebrate Africa’s creative industries through a special film showcase, “Bold Stories,” highlighting African women filmmakers.
GABI’s initiative aligns with Africa’s growing global significance, as the continent solidifies its role in the G20 and BRICS. This year’s event also marks a strategic partnership between the United Nations Global Compact and the African Union Commission, aiming to leverage Africa’s business potential to advance Agenda 2063 and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
The event promises to bring together Africa’s brightest minds and global leaders to collaborate on sustainable solutions, reaffirming that when Africa wins, the world benefits. GABI is committed to positioning Africa as a leader in global business and sustainable development.
