Moja EV Kenya is intensifying its marketing efforts for the Neta electric vehicles, focusing on taxi drivers in the coastal region to expand its presence in Kenya’s automotive market. The Chinese firm, which serves as the distributor for Neta in Kenya, is capitalizing on the growing awareness of the economic and ecological benefits of electric vehicles among Kenyans.

During a meeting with taxi drivers in Mombasa, Erick Lumallas, personal assistant to Moja EV’s CEO, highlighted the increasing uptake of electric vehicles in Kenya. He emphasized that more people are recognizing the substantial savings and environmental advantages that come with switching to electric vehicles, particularly in reducing carbon footprints.

The Neta V model, which was introduced to the Kenyan market in June and retails at 4 million shillings, is positioned as an ideal choice for taxi drivers. With a range of 380 km on a full charge, the Neta e-vehicle is designed to be more affordable and requires less maintenance compared to traditional diesel-powered vehicles, making it a practical option for the Kenyan market.

Lumallas pointed out that Neta electric cars could reduce operational costs for taxi drivers by up to 90 percent, further incentivizing the switch to electric vehicles. Moja EV is also investing in the necessary infrastructure to support the adoption of new energy vehicles across Kenya, ensuring a seamless transition for drivers.

Looking ahead, Moja EV aims to capture 30 percent of the taxi market in Kenya by 2026. Achieving this goal would significantly contribute to the country’s green transition, positioning Moja EV as a key player in Kenya’s shift towards sustainable transportation.

Taxi drivers in Kenya’s coastal region, represented by the Pwani Online Drivers Umbrella, have expressed enthusiasm for adopting Chinese-manufactured electric vehicles. They recognize the benefits of reduced fuel and maintenance costs, as well as the positive impact on the environment, making the transition to electric vehicles an attractive proposition.
