Uganda Airlines has announced plans to expand its reach by launching three new routes to the capitals of Zambia, Zimbabwe, and Nigeria in September 2024. This initiative marks a significant milestone for the national carrier, aimed at enhancing Uganda’s connectivity within Africa.
Speaking at the launch ceremony in Kampala, Jenifer Bamuturaki, CEO of Uganda Airlines, emphasized the strategic importance of these new routes in bolstering intra-African travel. The addition of direct flights to West Africa and Southern Africa is set to facilitate seamless connectivity, benefiting business, trade, tourism, and cultural exchanges across the continent.
Uganda Airlines currently serves a diverse network that includes destinations such as Kenya, Tanzania, the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Somalia, South Sudan, South Africa, the UAE, India, Burundi, and Nigeria’s Lagos. The expansion to Zambia, Zimbabwe, and Nigeria underscores the airline’s commitment to expanding its footprint and supporting regional integration efforts.
