ReElement Technologies Corporation and Jupiter Lithium embark on a transformative partnership to develop Nigeria’s first large-scale lithium deposit, bolstering the country’s lithium mining and battery production capabilities.

Spanning 442 square kilometers of lithium-rich terrain, this project signifies a significant step towards advancing Nigeria’s economy beyond oil, aligning with the Electric Vehicle Development Plan aimed at positioning Nigeria as a leader in EV technology.

ReElement, known for its expertise in refining rare earth and critical battery elements, plans to construct a state-of-the-art refinery to produce high-purity, battery-grade lithium carbonate and other critical minerals from spodumene concentrate sourced locally in West Africa.

The partnership with Jupiter Lithium, focusing on expanding from contract mining to large-scale owner operations, includes plans for a spodumene concentrator facility set to produce 55,000 tons of lithium spodumene concentrate annually, ramping up to 167,000 tons within two years.

Mark Jensen, CEO of ReElement Technologies, expresses enthusiasm about refining the region’s first large-scale spodumene supply, anticipating significant growth potential in becoming a major player in the global lithium market.

Stephen Davis, Chairman of Jupiter Lithium, highlights the project as the culmination of decades of mineral exploration in Nigeria, emphasizing its role in enhancing Nigeria’s mineral endowment and economic diversification.
