During the Huawei Africa Connect event in Johannesburg, South Africa, David Wang, Executive Director of the Board and Chairman of Huawei’s ICT Infrastructure Managing Board, emphasized the potential of Africa and Huawei’s eagerness to collaborate with governments and enterprises.
Wang highlighted the rapid expansion of the global digital economy and Huawei’s ongoing investments in innovation in Sub-Saharan Africa. The company’s initiatives include OpenLab and joint innovation hubs, alongside continuous training and professional development activities aimed at fostering local talent.
Hover Gao, President of Huawei Sub-Saharan Africa Region, noted Africa’s significant transition from an agricultural economy to one driven by digital technologies. Gao emphasized that digital transformation could be key to enhancing productivity for people, businesses, and society across Africa.
Victor Guo, President of Huawei SA Enterprise Business Group, shared his vision of an intelligent world by 2030, predicting a more than tenfold increase in computing power globally and a more than twentyfold increase in Africa. Guo highlighted Africa’s youthful population as a key asset, eager and willing to learn new technologies.
Huawei collaborates with over 3,000 partners in the region, providing tailored solutions for local businesses with varying demands. These partnerships aim to offer more local solutions and support the continent’s digital transformation journey.
