Airtel Kenya is set to significantly expand its network infrastructure in Mandera County, targeting the establishment of 53 new network sites by year-end. This expansion aims to enhance connectivity and strengthen Airtel’s presence in North-Eastern Kenya, contributing to improved telecommunications services across the region.
Currently, Airtel has already operationalized nine sites in Mandera County and plans to increase this number to 103 across Garissa, Mandera, and Wajir counties. This initiative underscores Airtel’s commitment to extending network coverage into previously underserved areas, particularly in the arid and semi-arid lands (ASAL).
In line with its strategic vision, Airtel Kenya continues to expand its footprint, having rolled out 480 new sites since December 2023. This brings their total network sites nationwide to over 3,700, covering approximately 89% of the Kenyan population.
Aashish Dutt, Airtel Kenya’s Chief Commercial Officer, highlighted the company’s dedication to providing reliable, affordable, and accessible telecommunications services to all Kenyans. This expansion not only supports economic growth and connectivity but also aims to bridge the digital divide by reaching remote communities with essential communication infrastructure.
Recently, Airtel Kenya inaugurated a new customer care shop in Mandera town, marking its presence in 41 counties nationwide. This move enhances accessibility for local residents to SIM cards, home broadband devices, airtime purchases, and customer support services, eliminating the need for long-distance travel to access essential telecom services.
Goldermier Opiyo, Customer Experience Director at Airtel Kenya, emphasized the convenience and affordability of local support services now available in Mandera, reinforcing Airtel’s commitment to enhancing customer experience and community engagement.
