Electric buses are hitting the streets of Kigali, Rwanda! IZI, a company leading the charge in electric transportation (e-mobility), just delivered five electric buses to the city.

Why the switch to electric?
Kigali’s population is booming, but the number of buses hasn’t kept up. This is partly because of rising diesel costs and limits on how much bus fares can be.

Electric buses offer a solution:
Cleaner air: Electric buses don’t create harmful emissions, which is good for the environment and people’s health.
Lower costs: IZI’s model lets bus operators pay a low fee per kilometer and avoid big upfront costs for buying electric buses. This can save operators up to 40% on running costs.
Longer battery life: IZI has a special system that makes electric bus batteries last longer, reducing overall costs.
More jobs: A new lab will be built to repair and maintain electric bus batteries, creating new jobs in Kigali.

This is just the beginning! IZI plans to deploy over 200 electric buses across Rwanda this year. The success of this program could lead to more electric buses in other African cities.
