Exciting news for electricity consumers in Kenya! The Energy and Petroleum Regulatory Authority (EPRA) has announced a significant reduction in electricity tariffs, slashing the cost per unit by Sh3.3 in the latest tariff update for this month. This move is aimed at providing much-needed relief to consumers and stimulating economic growth.

The new rates will benefit consumers across different segments, with the lowest spenders set to pay only Sh20.96 for a unit, marking a 13.7 percent reduction compared to the previous month. EPRA attributes this decrease to the strengthening of the Kenya Shilling, resulting in a reduction in the cost of fuel used to generate electricity.

Kenya Power’s managing director, Joseph Siror, expressed optimism about the impact of the tariff reduction on customers, emphasizing the importance of affordable electricity in driving socio-economic development. He highlighted the company’s commitment to providing reliable and sufficient electricity across the country to support economic growth and improve the quality of life for Kenyans.

The reduction in electricity tariffs underscores the government’s efforts to create an enabling environment for businesses and households by lowering the cost of essential utilities. As Kenya continues to prioritize access to affordable electricity, these tariff adjustments aim to benefit consumers and contribute to overall economic prosperity.
