Smallholder farmers from six counties will be honoured at the upcoming 6th UN Environment Assembly (UNEA-6) session in Nairobi. The event, scheduled from February 26 to March 1 at the UN Environment Programme (UNEP) headquarters, will recognize the farmers’ contributions to the Regreening Africa initiative.
These farmers, from Nakuru, Homa Bay, Migori, Elgeyo Marakwet, Laikipia, and Baringo counties, have been instrumental in reclaiming thousands of public and farmlands through tree planting and rehabilitation efforts, underscoring the importance of sustainable land management practices in combatting desertification and boosting biodiversity
