US technology company Cybastion has opened a regional cybersecurity centre in Abidjan, Côte d’Ivoire, in partnership with Cisco and the Ivorian government.

The facility, which opened on 5 November, includes a security operations centre designed to monitor threats targeting digital systems and a specialised incident-response team responsible for investigating cyberattacks.

Cybastion will manage the centre, which is intended to strengthen cybersecurity operations and provide professional training across West and Central Africa.

The launch follows an agreement signed in October 2025 involving Cybastion, Cisco and Côte d’Ivoire’s Ministry of Women, Family and Children. The partnership forms part of the wider Africa DigiEmpower programme, which aims to train 200,000 young people and women across ten regions of Côte d’Ivoire by 2030.

The programme focuses on developing skills in networking, cybersecurity and artificial intelligence to support digital capacity building.

Cisco said its Networking Academy has trained more than 3.3 million learners across Africa over the past 25 years.

The Abidjan centre combines operational cybersecurity services with professional training as Côte d’Ivoire continues expanding its digital public services and supporting infrastructure.
