Forcepoint has appointed Evelyn Sharon Ombongi as Territory Manager for East Africa, tasking her with helping organisations strengthen data security and cybersecurity as digital transformation continues across the region.
Ombongi will work with customers and channel partners to develop partnerships and identify new business opportunities. She said organisations are facing increasingly complex data security and cybersecurity challenges as more services and operations move online.
“As the region continues its digital transformation, protecting data is more than an IT priority; it’s a business imperative,” Ombongi said.
She brings extensive experience in East Africa’s cybersecurity and technology distribution markets. In 2020, she was appointed Sophos Country Manager for Kenya, where she was responsible for driving the company’s growth in the country.
Before joining Sophos, she served as Symantec’s Country Manager for East Africa, developing relationships with channel partners and end customers. Earlier in her career, she led enterprise sales at regional distribution companies working with technology brands including Oracle, Cisco, Check Point, EMC, VMware and Hitachi.
At the time of her Sophos appointment, Ombongi had more than 12 years of experience in the IT industry.
Forcepoint operates through channel partners across East Africa. Technology distributor Mindware previously announced Forcepoint among five new technology alliances aimed at expanding its regional presence.
The partnership identified Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania, Rwanda and Ethiopia as target markets. Mindware also reported strong demand for cybersecurity products following pilot projects in Kenya and Uganda.
Ombongi’s appointment comes as organisations across East Africa continue adopting digital services and strengthening their approach to protecting business data and IT infrastructure.
