Pan-African telecommunications and network services provider Paratus Group has launched operations in Lesotho through Paratus Lesotho, expanding its presence across Africa and extending its connectivity services to another African market.
Paratus Lesotho will provide high-speed internet services supported by local customer service and technical teams. Its offering includes Starlink enterprise connectivity alongside Paratus network solutions for businesses and organisations across the Kingdom of Lesotho.
The operation is a joint venture between Real Image Lesotho and Paratus Group, with Makali Lepholisa appointed as Managing Director. Lepholisa brings more than 20 years of executive leadership experience spanning customs modernisation, trade facilitation, business strategy and stakeholder engagement.
She holds a Master’s degree in Customs Administration from Charles Sturt University in Australia, an MBA from Business School Netherlands and a Bachelor of Commerce degree in Accounting.
Throughout her career, Lepholisa has worked with governments, regional institutions, development partners and private-sector organisations on initiatives supporting economic growth, digital transformation and cross-border trade. Her experience includes contributing to trade facilitation and National Single Window programmes in several African countries, as well as supporting regional initiatives involving the Southern African Development Community (SADC), the World Bank and the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP).
Commenting on the launch, Lepholisa said the Paratus Group’s experience and established presence in other markets would support opportunities for Paratus Lesotho to contribute to the country’s social and economic development through reliable technology solutions.
Lesotho’s mountainous terrain presents challenges for conventional telecommunications infrastructure, particularly in areas beyond major urban centres. Limited access to reliable connectivity can affect businesses and organisations operating in remote locations, restricting their ability to access digital services and growth opportunities.
As an authorised Starlink reseller, Paratus Lesotho will provide enterprise connectivity through low Earth orbit (LEO) satellite technology. The service is designed to deliver high-speed, low-latency internet access in locations where fibre and other terrestrial infrastructure may be limited or unavailable.
Customers will also have access to the wider Paratus Group’s technical expertise and network capabilities, supporting the delivery of connectivity solutions across the country.
The launch adds Lesotho to Paratus Group’s expanding African operations as the company continues to provide telecommunications and network services across the continent.
