Ethio telecom has hosted a stakeholder panel discussion to promote cybersecurity awareness and encourage safer digital practices as part of International Cybersecurity Month, under the theme “Secure by Habit”. The event brought together industry experts and key stakeholders to discuss the importance of building a proactive cybersecurity culture and strengthening cooperation across Ethiopia’s digital ecosystem.
Opening the discussion, Endale Asrat, Chief Information Officer of Ethio telecom, emphasised the need to make cybersecurity an everyday practice across digital interactions. He highlighted the importance of collaboration among industry players, policymakers and other stakeholders, alongside stronger security measures by service providers and policy-backed solutions to protect customers.
The panel explored how everyday digital precautions and shared responsibility can contribute to a safer online environment. Participants also discussed the role of cybersecurity in supporting Ethiopia’s Digital Ethiopia strategy, as the country continues to advance its digital transformation agenda.
In his closing remarks, Mesay Woubshet, Chief Corporate Affairs and Communication Officer at Ethio telecom, reaffirmed the company’s commitment to delivering reliable and secure digital infrastructure to meet Ethiopia’s growing digital needs.
Woubshet also highlighted the company’s “Next Horizon: Digital & Beyond 2028” strategy, which aims to strengthen security systems and protect customers against evolving cyber threats by embedding security into everyday operations.
