Orange Egypt and Huawei have announced the successful deployment of the world’s first Co-Channel Interference Cancellation (CCIC) microwave technology, aimed at improving wireless backhaul capacity and spectrum efficiency.

The technology combines Huawei’s CCIC algorithms and interference-cancellation architecture with Orange Egypt’s network infrastructure. It is designed to address spectrum scarcity by increasing microwave spectrum efficiency by up to 400%, enabling up to four high-capacity links to operate simultaneously on the same frequency channel without signal degradation.

Huawei provided microwave solutions, software-defined interference cancellation algorithms and technical expertise to design, test and integrate the CCIC solution into Orange Egypt’s nationwide network.

The deployment is expected to support high-speed mobile broadband connectivity and future 5G enterprise and consumer services, contributing to Egypt’s digital infrastructure development.

The initiative was supported by Egypt’s National Telecommunications Regulatory Authority (NTRA), whose work in maximising national spectrum resources and supporting advanced telecommunications technologies contributed to the deployment.

The development builds on the long-standing partnership between Orange Egypt and Huawei, which has included 5G infrastructure, Massive MIMO, E-band microwave backhaul, energy-efficient base stations and enterprise cloud services.
