MTN South Sudan has reaffirmed its commitment to expanding digital connectivity and creating opportunities for young people across the country, with a focus on supporting innovation, digital skills and sustainable development.
MTN South Sudan CEO Mapula Bodibe made the remarks during the Youth Dialogue and Engagement Event at the University of Juba, held as part of the International Youth Day 2026 extension. The event was convened by the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) in partnership with the Ministry of Youth and Sports and brought together government representatives, youth leaders and other stakeholders.
The dialogue examined how young people can play a greater role in driving innovation, developing solutions to national challenges and contributing to South Sudan’s sustainable development.
Bodibe highlighted MTN South Sudan’s network reach, noting that the operator currently provides approximately 85% population coverage. She identified continued expansion of connectivity across the country as one of her priorities, with broader access expected to help more communities participate in the digital economy.
She also highlighted MTN South Sudan’s investment in ICT Hubs, which are designed to provide young people and communities with greater access to digital tools, skills and opportunities.
MTN South Sudan currently operates ICT Hubs in eight states and aims to establish a hub in every state across the country. The initiative is intended to create more spaces where young people can access technology, strengthen their digital capabilities and explore innovative solutions to local challenges.
The company’s efforts form part of a broader focus on using digital connectivity and technology to bridge South Sudan’s digital divide while creating opportunities for young people to learn, innovate and contribute to national development.
As digital access continues to expand, initiatives combining connectivity, digital skills and youth engagement could play an important role in strengthening innovation and participation in South Sudan’s emerging digital economy.
