A delegation from Gabon’s Ministry of Interior, Security and Decentralisation has concluded a nearly two-week immersion programme in Rwanda, examining the country’s approach to digital transformation and the use of technology in public administration and service delivery.
During the programme, the Gabonese officials explored Rwanda’s experience in e-governance, artificial intelligence and the development of national digital policies.
The delegation also examined the digitalisation of civil registration and identification services, alongside Rwanda’s approaches to cybersecurity, data protection and privacy.
Discussions covered the interconnection of government systems and the delivery of digital services across public institutions, with particular attention given to improving efficiency and accessibility.
A key focus was the digitalisation of public services at the decentralised level. The delegation also explored IREMBO, Rwanda’s online government services platform that enables citizens and businesses to access a range of public services digitally.
The immersion programme provided an opportunity for officials from Gabon and Rwanda to exchange experiences and share lessons on the policies, systems and practices supporting digital transformation.
The insights gained could help inform Gabon’s efforts to strengthen digital governance, modernise public services and expand the use of technology across government institutions.
The visit reflects a growing trend of African countries learning from one another as governments seek practical approaches to improving public-sector efficiency, strengthening digital infrastructure and making essential services more accessible.
