Senegal and The Gambia are moving to strengthen bilateral digital cooperation following a working visit by Senegal’s Minister of Telecommunications and Digital Affairs, Samba Diouf, to Banjul.
The visit focused on operationalising a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed between the two countries covering telecommunications and digital development. Discussions with Gambian officials and technical teams reviewed the implementation roadmap and identified initial priorities for advancing the agreement.
The two sides agreed to adopt a pragmatic, results-oriented approach, with initiatives to progress according to their readiness and the priorities identified by both countries.
Key areas of cooperation include connectivity, cybersecurity, capacity building and digital transformation. The partnership is expected to strengthen collaboration as Senegal and The Gambia expand their digital infrastructure and capabilities.
The working visit marks another step in efforts to translate the bilateral digital agreement into concrete programmes aimed at improving telecommunications and digital services for citizens in both countries.
