LG Electronics is accelerating its collaboration with NVIDIA as the companies work to strengthen their capabilities in robotics and physical artificial intelligence.
LG recently hosted senior NVIDIA officials at its Data Factory, currently under construction at the company’s Yangjae R&D Campus in Seoul. The visit followed a memorandum of understanding signed by LG Group and NVIDIA on August 13 for strategic collaboration on future business initiatives.
The Data Factory is designed to support the collection, validation and refinement of data used to train robots. Its facilities include replicated home environments, simulated manufacturing spaces and areas supporting logistics automation and robotic-hand training.
LG has deployed its LG CLOiD home robots across these environments to collect data through physical learning. The resulting datasets will be combined with NVIDIA technologies including Omniverse, Cosmos and Isaac to support robot learning and deployment.
The four-floor facility covers approximately 10,000 square metres and is expected to house several hundred robots by the end of 2026. LG expects training data collected directly at the facility, alongside synthetically generated and augmented data, to reach 100,000 hours by year-end.
The company plans to use the data to advance its Robot Foundation Model, which is intended to support the performance of humanoid robots and other autonomous systems.
The Data Factory forms part of LG’s broader robotics strategy, which includes industrial and commercial robotics as well as plans to expand into home robotics. The company established a Robotics Business Center in 2026 to oversee its companywide robotics operations and strengthen execution.
LG said combining its manufacturing and logistics expertise with NVIDIA’s physical AI technologies will support its ambition to develop a broader robotics solutions business spanning hardware, software and AI.
