Visa is expanding Visa Pay across Africa through a new software development kit (SDK) that enables banks, mobile money operators and fintech companies to integrate Visa’s payment capabilities directly into their existing applications, accelerating the rollout of digital payment services across the continent.
The SDK is now available in markets including Zambia, Sudan, the Republic of Congo and Tanzania, supporting a wide range of financial services such as e-commerce payments, cross-border remittances, virtual card issuance, humanitarian disbursements and person-to-person (P2P) transfers. The embedded solution allows financial institutions to deploy new payment products without building payment infrastructure from scratch.
According to Visa, the embedded model is designed to help financial service providers launch secure domestic and international payment solutions more quickly while improving customer experiences and creating new revenue opportunities. The approach also supports greater financial inclusion by enabling digital payment services to reach more businesses and consumers through existing banking and fintech platforms.
Looking ahead, Visa plans to introduce Tap to Pay functionality through the SDK, extending Visa Pay to support contactless payment experiences and further strengthening the continent’s growing digital payments ecosystem.
The expansion reinforces Visa’s commitment to accelerating digital commerce across Africa by empowering financial institutions with scalable payment technology that supports innovation, financial inclusion and seamless cross-border transactions.
