Veeam Software has launched Veeam Data Cloud Vault Archive, a new archival cloud storage tier designed to help organizations securely retain backup data for the long term while reducing storage costs and strengthening cyber resilience.

Designed to complete the backup data lifecycle, Veeam Vault Archive provides a lower-cost archive tier for aged backups, large unstructured datasets and redundant, obsolete or trivial (ROT) data. The solution enables organizations to automatically move infrequently accessed backup data from premium storage to immutable, encrypted and logically air-gapped cloud storage without increasing operational complexity.

The launch comes as organizations face growing data volumes, stricter compliance requirements and increasing ransomware threats. According to Veeam, backup repositories are targeted in 96% of ransomware attacks, while data sovereignty and long-term retention remain key priorities for businesses adopting AI-driven technologies.

Integrated with Veeam Data Platform v13.1, the new solution supports policy-based data tiering, direct archiving of NAS backups, enhanced threat detection and secure long-term retention. It also helps organizations comply with Veeam’s 3-2-1-1-0 data protection strategy by maintaining an immutable off-site backup copy.

Veeam positions Vault Archive as a modern alternative to tape storage, eliminating the operational complexity of physical media while providing secure, on-demand access to archived backup data. The platform is designed to improve governance, reduce infrastructure costs and ensure organizations can recover trusted data whenever needed.
