Gabon is advancing its digital infrastructure ambitions with the construction of a new Tier III Carrier Hotel Datacenter, as Minister of Digital Economy, Digitalization and Innovation Mark-Alexandre Doumba conducted a site inspection to assess the project’s progress.
The inspection confirmed that construction is progressing on schedule, with the strategic facility expected to be completed between the end of November and the beginning of December.
Once operational, the Tier III datacenter will accommodate 160 racks and provide more than 1 MW of electrical capacity, delivering a secure, high-performance hosting environment for telecom operators, enterprises and public institutions while meeting international standards for reliability and availability.
The Carrier Hotel will be interconnected with Gabon’s submarine cable systems, strengthening the country’s digital infrastructure, improving network resilience and supporting the local hosting of data and digital services to enhance digital sovereignty.
In addition to colocation services, the facility will include dedicated spaces for startups and innovation, creating an environment that supports entrepreneurship, technology development and the growth of Gabon’s digital ecosystem.
The project forms part of Gabon’s broader digital transformation strategy, aimed at strengthening digital sovereignty, improving national competitiveness and expanding access to reliable digital services through modern infrastructure.
The datacenter is being developed by ACE GABON SA, the state-owned company responsible for managing and expanding Gabon’s international connectivity infrastructure under the supervision of the Ministry of Digital Economy, Digitalization and Innovation.
