Ethio Telecom Showcases Ethiopia’s AI Talent at Cursor Hackathon 2026.

Ethio Telecom has concluded the Cursor Ethiopia AI Hackathon 2026, bringing together more than 300 developers, students and innovators to develop artificial intelligence solutions aimed at addressing real-world challenges across multiple sectors.

Held at the Adwa Museum, the hackathon was organised in partnership with Cursor Ethiopia and Ethiopia’s Ministry of Innovation and Technology (MInT). Participants designed and built AI-powered solutions focused on improving service delivery, healthcare and other key sectors, demonstrating the growing role of artificial intelligence in solving local challenges.

According to Ethio Telecom, the event highlighted the creativity, technical expertise and innovation emerging from Ethiopia’s expanding AI ecosystem while providing a platform for collaboration among developers, students and technology innovators.

The state-owned telecommunications operator said the initiative forms part of its broader commitment to supporting digital transformation, entrepreneurship and technology innovation as Ethiopia continues to strengthen its digital economy and nurture homegrown talent.

Ethio Telecom also congratulated the winning teams and thanked all participants for contributing to the success of the hackathon, reaffirming its commitment to supporting initiatives that advance artificial intelligence, innovation and Ethiopia’s digital future
