X has launched a completely rebuilt Android app after nearly a year of development, delivering faster performance, smoother navigation and improved reliability for millions of users.
Built from the ground up rather than through incremental updates, the new Android app marks one of X’s largest engineering projects since Elon Musk acquired the platform. The update introduces improvements to loading speeds, scrolling, notifications and overall stability.
The rebuild follows the formation of a dedicated Android engineering team in 2025, aimed at closing the performance gap between Android and iOS while creating a stronger foundation for future innovation.
According to X, the new architecture will enable faster development and deployment of upcoming features, including X Money, X Chat, a new video editor, react-with-video, cashtags and custom timelines.
The company says the rebuilt app also addresses long-standing Android issues such as slow loading, inconsistent performance and bugs, while additional improvements for older Android devices and Spaces are still in development.
