The National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA) has partnered with TikTok to launch a Digital Commerce Lab for SMEs in Lagos, a strategic move aimed at strengthening digital skills and expanding opportunities for Nigerian entrepreneurs in the fast-evolving online economy.
The initiative was unveiled during a ceremony focused on equipping small and medium enterprises with practical digital commerce capabilities, enabling them to compete more effectively, scale operations, and unlock new market opportunities through online platforms.
A key component of the programme is a $20,000 pilot “Train-the-Trainer” initiative under NITDA’s DL4ALL network, designed to build local capacity by empowering facilitators who will cascade digital skills and training to SMEs across Nigeria, including underserved and remote communities.
Officials emphasized that the partnership will support SMEs in leveraging digital platforms for marketing, customer engagement, and business expansion, while reinforcing the importance of digital commerce as a core driver of productivity and sustainable growth in modern business environments.
The collaboration reflects Nigeria’s broader digital transformation agenda focused on inclusion, innovation, and job creation, highlighting a growing trend of public-private partnerships aimed at accelerating digital literacy and positioning SMEs for competitiveness in global digital markets.
