LG Electronics has entered into a strategic partnership with Flex, a global leader in manufacturing and data center infrastructure solutions, to develop advanced, integrated cooling systems tailored for AI-driven data centers. Through a newly signed memorandum of understanding (MOU), the two companies aim to create modular thermal management solutions designed to meet the growing cooling demands of high-density computing environments that power artificial intelligence.
The collaboration combines LG’s cutting-edge air and liquid cooling technologies—ranging from Computer Room Air Conditioners (CRAC) and Air Handlers (CRAH) to chillers, Coolant Distribution Units (CDUs), and monitoring systems—with Flex’s proprietary liquid cooling, power products, and data center infrastructure. Together, these technologies will provide operators with flexible, scalable, and high-efficiency cooling solutions to optimize performance and reduce operational costs.
LG continues to strengthen its global footprint in the data center sector. The company recently secured a major AI data center project in Jakarta, Indonesia—one of the largest of its kind in the region—and is collaborating with global infrastructure provider DATAVOLT on projects in the Middle East and Africa. Additionally, LG has been contracted to supply cooling solutions for a hyperscale data center under development in North America, reinforcing its growing role in supporting large-scale digital infrastructure.
Beyond its partnerships, LG is advancing innovation through research and testing of next-generation liquid cooling technologies. Together with LG Uplus, it successfully demonstrated a proof-of-concept for advanced liquid cooling systems designed for data center efficiency. The company is also developing next-generation CDUs and cold plate solutions, expected to be completed later this year, with commercialization to follow.
The co-developed cooling solutions will be integrated into the Flex AI infrastructure platform—the first globally manufactured modular data center platform that combines power, cooling, compute, and services. This collaboration underscores LG’s strategic commitment to expanding its AI data center capabilities and global reach, while enhancing efficiency and sustainability in the rapidly evolving digital ecosystem.
