MTN Côte d’Ivoire has officially launched a four-month celebration to mark its 20th anniversary, commemorating two decades of growth, innovation, and service in one of West Africa’s most dynamic markets. Since its establishment in 2005, the company has grown into the nation’s largest mobile operator, serving over 16 million subscribers and 4.9 million active MoMo users, with network coverage reaching 93% of the Ivorian population.

Over the past 20 years, MTN Côte d’Ivoire has made remarkable contributions to the economy, investing more than \$33.6 billion (21 trillion CFA francs). This investment has not only expanded infrastructure but also created 645 direct jobs and over 150,000 indirect jobs, cementing its role as both a telecommunications leader and a driver of socio-economic growth in the country.

At the launch of the anniversary celebrations, CEO Mitwa Kaemba Ng’ambi reflected on the company’s journey, stating that MTN Côte d’Ivoire has grown alongside the ambitions and challenges of the nation. She emphasized that while the 20-year milestone celebrates past achievements, it also serves as a foundation for future progress, with the promise that “the best is yet to come.”

The anniversary celebrations are structured around four themed months, each recognizing a key stakeholder group. September is dedicated to customers, October will honor employees and partners, November will focus on institutional stakeholders, and December will conclude with a major festive event in honor of customers. This approach underscores MTN’s long-standing customer-first ethos while recognizing the broader ecosystem that has contributed to its success.

MTN Group, the parent company, hailed the Côte d’Ivoire milestone as a reflection of its broader mission across Africa, where nearly 300 million people depend on its networks and platforms. The Group highlighted that this 20-year journey is not only about connecting communities but also about enabling progress, innovation, and inclusivity across the continent.

Looking ahead, MTN Côte d’Ivoire has committed to intensifying efforts around digital inclusion and community impact. The anniversary is not viewed as a destination but rather as a springboard into the future, where MTN will continue to build on its legacy by driving access to digital services and empowering communities in Côte d’Ivoire and beyond.
