Bboxx has announced the return of Justus Mucyo as its new Chief Operating Officer, marking a pivotal moment in the company’s mission to deliver clean energy and digital services across Africa. In this role, he will steer operational excellence and sustainable growth across Bboxx’s eight markets, collaborating closely with the Group CEO and country Managing Directors to enhance performance, profitability, and impact.
Justus brings over a decade of transformative leadership within Bboxx, having previously served as Managing Director for both Rwanda and Kenya, and leading expansion efforts into West Africa. His earlier tenure also included pioneering off-grid operations and holding the position of Chairman of the Solar sub-sector under Energy Private Developers (EPD). Academically, he holds a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering from Kigali Institute of Science and Technology, KIST and an MBA from The African Leadership University Kenya.
During his time in Rwanda and Kenya, Justus played a critical role in scaling operations, building last-mile distribution networks, and expanding pay-as-you-go offerings into new product categories such as clean cooking and e-mobility. His hands-on approach and deep understanding of local markets enabled Bboxx to serve more than 5 million people across eight countries, reinforcing the company’s status as a leading super platform in Africa.
