Digital Realty has announced the opening of its third data center in Lagos, marking another significant milestone in strengthening its presence in West Africa. The new facility, LKK2, located in Lekki, adds nearly 2MW of installed IT capacity and approximately 13,000 square feet of data hall space. This expansion is set to accelerate digital transformation in Nigeria and the wider region, enabling enterprises to meet the increasing demand for scalable, high-performance infrastructure.

LKK2 will be directly interconnected with Digital Realty’s existing LKK1 facility, which serves as the landing station for the 2Africa subsea cable. This integration offers businesses seamless access to the cable’s 46+ landing points across 33 countries in Africa, Europe, the Middle East, and Asia. By leveraging this connectivity, enterprises can benefit from low-latency access to global cloud and network services, significantly improving application performance and enabling participation in international digital ecosystems.

The new facility also integrates with ServiceFabric®, Digital Realty’s global interconnection and orchestration platform. Through ServiceFabric®, LKK2 will link with LOS1, the region’s top internet peering point, and LOS2, the company’s highly connected data centers on Victoria Island. This interconnected ecosystem delivers resilience, redundancy, speed, and scalability for both enterprise and hyperscale customers, supporting seamless expansion into one of the fastest-growing digital markets in Africa.

Digital Realty emphasized that the launch of LKK2 reinforces its commitment to advancing Africa’s digital transformation. With Nigeria at the center of this expansion, the facility provides critical infrastructure to support local enterprises and multinational organizations with secure, reliable, and interconnected solutions. As data demand continues to grow across the continent, Digital Realty’s investment highlights its role as a leading enabler of Africa’s digital future, ensuring that businesses can scale and connect globally with confidence.
