Digital infrastructure provider hayo has joined the Linux Foundation and become a member of the CAMARA Project to accelerate the adoption of network application programming interfaces (APIs) across Africa and the Middle East.

According to IDC, the global network API market is forecast to grow from $1.5 billion in 2025 to $6.9 billion by 2029, creating opportunities for telecommunications operators and technology providers to develop services around network capabilities, digital identity and authentication.

CAMARA is an open-source initiative hosted by the Linux Foundation that develops and tests standardised telecommunications APIs. Working with the GSMA Operator Platform Group, the project aims to establish consistent, developer-friendly interfaces that support adoption across mobile operators and markets.

As a CAMARA member, hayo will work with mobile network operators, hyperscalers, communications platform as a service (CPaaS) providers, aggregators and enterprises to bring standardised network APIs into commercial use. The company said its participation reflects a commitment to open standards, interoperability and collaboration across the telecommunications industry.

hayo’s platform supports CAMARA-aligned APIs, including Number Verification, SIM Swap Detection, Device Location and Status, Know Your Customer (KYC) Match, and Quality on Demand. These capabilities can support digital identity verification, fraud prevention, authentication and improved digital experiences, while helping operators develop new revenue streams from their network infrastructure.

The company is investing in standards-based frameworks that allow operators to make more use of their network capabilities and offer services to businesses across different markets. Its work aims to bridge the gap between API standards development and practical deployment, particularly across Africa and the Middle East.

Linux Foundation General Manager of Networking, Edge and IoT Arpit Joshipura highlighted the role of open standards and collaboration in making network capabilities more accessible and supporting applications that strengthen security, reduce fraud and improve digital services.

The development builds on hayo’s broader network API strategy and its work with operators and governments to support digital ecosystems. As demand for secure digital transactions and identity services grows, standardised network APIs are becoming an important part of efforts to expand connectivity-based services and commercial opportunities.
