Cameroon Telecommunications (CAMTEL) and the Ministry of Secondary Education (MINESEC) have signed a framework agreement aimed at strengthening digital education through the interconnection of 130 schools across Cameroon’s Adamawa, North and Far North regions.
The agreement was signed on Wednesday, October 7, 2026, at the Distance Learning Centre in Yaoundé. Under the partnership, CAMTEL will provide network expertise and connectivity to support teachers and students in accessing digital learning resources and distance education tools.
Beyond internet connectivity, CAMTEL will provide MINESEC with a turnkey digital solution covering internet services, telephony, online presence, secure data storage and technical support. The initiative is designed to strengthen the digital infrastructure supporting education across the three northern regions.
The agreement builds on an existing relationship between CAMTEL and MINESEC. CAMTEL’s network currently covers 183 multimedia centres and more than 400 computer rooms and laboratories, alongside MINESEC’s central services and several regional and departmental delegations. The operator also hosts the ministry’s official web portal.
CAMTEL General Manager Judith Yah Sunday said, “When the course begins, the network must be there.” The statement highlights the operator’s focus on ensuring reliable connectivity is available to support learning and access to digital resources.
The initiative is expected to expand access to digital education for students and teachers across Adamawa, North and Far North, regardless of their location, while contributing to broader digital inclusion in Cameroon’s education sector.
