Vodafone and Digital Virgo have announced a partnership to help enterprises, mobile operators, media companies and content creators deliver more secure and trusted digital experiences across Europe and Africa.

The partnership will focus on accelerating the adoption of standardised Open Gateway Network APIs across mobile payment and carrier billing systems. The integration is designed to bring operator-grade identity, authentication and fraud prevention capabilities into digital commerce services.

Under the agreement, Digital Virgo will integrate Vodafone Network APIs into its monetisation solutions serving more than 300 merchants and over 150 operators. The capabilities will also be made available to other organisations.

The partnership initially covers five markets: Germany, Greece, Spain, South Africa and the UK, with plans to expand into additional countries.

Vodafone and Digital Virgo will focus on reducing friction in digital customer journeys while strengthening authentication, account protection and fraud controls. One area of focus will be replacing SMS one-time password (OTP) processes with Number Verify to provide faster and simpler authentication.

The companies will also use Open Gateway APIs, including Know Your Customer Match and SIM Swap capabilities, to support customer onboarding, account protection and fraud prevention for merchants and digital service providers.

Digital Virgo operates across more than 60 countries, while Vodafone brings its global network reach and role in developing standardised network APIs. The collaboration also supports the broader GSMA Open Gateway initiative and CAMARA-based standards for providing secure and consistent access to telecom network capabilities.

The companies said the integration is intended to help businesses improve conversion rates, strengthen customer trust and reduce exposure to increasingly sophisticated fraud threats.

The partnership reflects the growing use of programmable telecom network capabilities to support secure digital commerce, authentication and payment experiences.
