The Liberia Telecommunications Authority (LTA) is moving to automate telecommunications licensing and renewals, with a new digital platform designed to make regulatory services more accessible across the country.
Under the planned system, individuals, businesses and other entities will be able to submit telecommunications licence and renewal applications online, reducing the need for applicants outside Monrovia to travel to the capital to complete licensing processes.
The platform is being developed to replace existing paper-based procedures with a more streamlined digital process. The LTA’s Licensing and Regulations Department is refining the system, while staff are undergoing training to manage applications through the new platform.
The automated system is expected to reduce the time, cost and physical effort required from applicants while improving the efficiency of the Authority’s licensing operations.
The LTA will continue to provide physical access for applicants who require assistance or prefer to engage with the Authority directly. This approach is intended to support digital adoption without excluding people with limited access to online services.
The initiative forms part of the LTA’s broader efforts to modernise telecommunications regulation and expand access to digital public services across Liberia.
