Microsoft has confirmed plans to launch a unified Copilot application in 2026 that will bring together its AI-powered tools, including Copilot Chat, GitHub Copilot, Copilot Cowork and Autopilot agents, into a single platform for both consumers and enterprise users.
The announcement was made by Microsoft Chairman and CEO Satya Nadella during the company’s latest earnings call, where he said Copilot is evolving “from chat to Cowork to Autopilots” as Microsoft works to deliver a more integrated AI experience.
The new application is expected to eliminate the need for users to switch between multiple AI products by enabling conversational assistance, coding support, collaborative workflows and autonomous AI agents within a single interface. The integrated approach is designed to preserve context across tasks, allowing users to move seamlessly between writing, coding, collaboration and automation.
According to Microsoft, the platform will combine Copilot Chat for general productivity tasks, GitHub Copilot for software development, Copilot Cowork for long-running collaborative AI sessions and Autopilot agents capable of executing multi-step workflows with minimal human intervention.
The move comes as competition intensifies in the AI productivity market, with technology companies increasingly developing integrated AI assistants that combine conversational AI, coding tools and intelligent automation. Microsoft’s announcement also follows continued growth in Microsoft 365 Copilot, which the company revealed has surpassed 30 million paid seats.
While Microsoft confirmed the unified application is expected to launch in 2026, the company has not yet disclosed pricing, supported platforms or detailed feature availability. Additional information is expected to be announced in the coming months.
