Uganda has taken another step towards expanding digital public service delivery with a readiness inspection of the newly renovated Service Uganda Centres in Tororo ahead of their official launch.
The inspection was carried out by the Ministry of ICT & National Guidance in collaboration with the National Information Technology Authority-Uganda (NITA-U), the Ministry of Public Service and Posta Uganda Limited to assess the centres’ preparedness for full operations.
The technology-enabled facility has been established with support from the Uganda Digital Acceleration Project (UDAP-GovNet), implemented under NITA-U. The centre forms part of a nationwide programme to establish 19 Service Uganda Centres under the government’s One-Stop Centre model, aimed at bringing essential public services closer to citizens.
The Service Uganda Centres are designed to provide an integrated platform where citizens can conveniently access multiple government services through modern digital infrastructure. The initiative is expected to improve efficiency, accessibility and the overall quality of public service delivery while advancing citizen-centric governance.
According to the government, the rollout of the centres reflects Uganda’s continued commitment to accelerating public sector digital transformation, strengthening digital infrastructure and expanding access to efficient government services across the country.
