Gabon is strengthening collaboration between its private sector and startup ecosystem with the launch of Kimba Connect, a new innovation platform designed to accelerate digital transformation, encourage open innovation and improve business competitiveness.
Unveiled by the Ministry of Digital Economy, Digitalization and Innovation, Kimba Connect is designed to bridge the gap between established businesses and Gabonese startups by connecting corporate challenges with locally developed technology solutions. The platform will serve as a collaborative space where businesses, entrepreneurs and innovators can build strategic partnerships, develop practical digital solutions and contribute to the country’s growing innovation ecosystem.
The launch brought together senior government officials, industry leaders, investors, incubators and startup founders, including the Vice-President of the Government, the Minister of Communication and Media, and the President of the Federation of Gabonese Enterprises (FEG). Their participation reflects a shared commitment to positioning innovation as a key driver of economic growth and digital transformation.
Panel discussions explored critical topics shaping Gabon’s digital future, including open innovation, digital transformation, financing innovation, collaboration between corporations and startups, and strategies to improve the competitiveness of local businesses in an increasingly digital economy.
Speaking during the launch, Minister of Digital Economy, Digitalization and Innovation Mark-Alexandre Doumba emphasized that innovation delivers real value only when it addresses practical challenges while strengthening collaboration between businesses, startups and local talent. He noted that building stronger connections across the innovation ecosystem will be essential to accelerating Gabon’s economic transformation.
The event also featured the signing of several strategic partnership agreements designed to support innovation-led economic development. According to the Ministry, Kimba Connect will serve as a catalyst for value creation, sustainable growth, economic sovereignty and the emergence of nationally competitive technology champions as Gabon continues expanding its digital economy.
By creating stronger links between startups and established enterprises, Gabon is laying the foundation for a more collaborative, innovative and competitive digital economy that supports local entrepreneurship while unlocking new opportunities for sustainable growth.
