Cybastion, a global leader in cybersecurity and digital solutions, has taken a major step in expanding its Africa DigiEmpower initiative into the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC). The announcement, made during the sidelines of the United Nations General Assembly, represents a significant milestone in strengthening U.S.–Africa partnerships that prioritize digital transformation, capacity building, and skills development for the continent’s youth and women.
The formal launch was held at Cisco’s New York office, where key stakeholders came together to cement the collaboration. Memoranda of Understanding (MOUs) were signed between H.E. Grâce Kutino, Minister of Youth of the DRC; Dr. Thierry Wandji Ketchiozo, CEO of Cybastion; and Macy Andrew, Vice President of Cisco. This partnership officially paves the way for the rollout of Africa DigiEmpower training programs across the DRC, bringing world-class digital education closer to underserved populations.
Africa DigiEmpower is a transformative initiative designed to build a future-ready digital workforce. Through accredited technical training provided by the Cisco Networking Academy, the program offers free courses in critical areas such as Artificial Intelligence, Cybersecurity, and Digital Infrastructure. By focusing on high-demand skills, the initiative ensures that participants are well-positioned to thrive in the global digital economy.
The program is spearheaded by Cybastion’s non-profit arm, THEYA Foundation, which plays a pivotal role in ensuring that education and training reach beyond major cities. Leveraging American Spaces provided by the U.S. Department of State, collaborations with local educational partners, and mobile caravans that deliver training and tech camps, the foundation ensures inclusivity and accessibility. This approach is designed to empower even the most remote and underserved communities.
The expansion into the DRC is not only about technology training but also about equipping the next generation with tools to drive secure digital adoption, foster entrepreneurship, and support national development goals. By building local capacity, the initiative aligns with the country’s broader vision of embracing innovation while strengthening its position in Africa’s digital transformation journey.
Through this initiative, Cybastion and its partners are laying a strong foundation for a more inclusive and secure digital future in Africa. By bridging the digital divide, enhancing opportunities for youth and women, and advancing the continent’s readiness for the evolving global digital economy, Africa DigiEmpower continues to stand out as a catalyst for sustainable growth.
