Cameroon Telecommunications (Camtel) has launched a nationwide campaign designed to revitalize fixed line services and extend fiber connectivity to households and businesses across the country. Unveiled during the Camtel Actu radio program on August 30, 2025, this initiative seeks to reaffirm the importance of fixed line phones in a market largely dominated by mobile technology. By combining reliability, security, and high-quality communication, Camtel is repositioning fixed lines as a vital tool for both families and professionals.

As part of the campaign, Camtel has introduced a promotional offer on wired phones, priced affordably between 5,000 and 15,000 francs CFA. These devices come with added features such as caller ID, ensuring greater convenience for users. To enhance accessibility, the operator is also preparing an online sales platform that will allow customers to subscribe and receive their devices directly at their homes or offices, further modernizing the user experience.

The company emphasized the numerous advantages of fixed line communication. Unlike mobile connections, fixed lines offer superior call quality, uninterrupted communication during peak traffic hours, and enhanced security. These attributes make fixed telephony an attractive option for businesses that rely on clear, dependable communication, as well as households that prioritize consistent connectivity.

Beyond fixed line services, Camtel is accelerating the expansion of its fiber-to-the-home (FTTH) infrastructure. With over 180,000 fiber ports already deployed and a target of 230,000 by year-end, the operator is ensuring that more Cameroonians gain access to high-speed broadband, integrated telephony, and seamless digital services. Subscribers enjoy features such as online bill payments and 24/7 customer support via WhatsApp, assisted by an AI-powered system that resolves common issues efficiently before routing to technical teams.

Camtel’s long-term connectivity strategy extends to mobile technologies as well. The operator is expanding its 4G and LTE networks in more than 160 municipalities while laying the groundwork for 5G deployment. This multi-pronged approach reflects the company’s commitment to strengthening digital inclusion across Cameroon and equipping the nation with infrastructure to power future innovations in communication, commerce, and services.

In addition to telecommunications, Camtel is preparing to launch Bluepony, a mobile payment platform aimed at advancing financial inclusion, especially in rural areas. By integrating fixed lines, fiber, and mobile solutions, the operator is positioning itself as a key driver of Cameroon’s digital economy, ensuring that households, businesses, and communities benefit from reliable and affordable connectivity.
