Safaricom has introduced an upgraded 5G for Business service, offering speeds up to five times faster than before. This enhancement is designed to support essential business operations, including real-time collaboration, seamless online transactions, and efficient remote work solutions. The move signals a commitment to driving digital transformation for enterprises in Kenya.
With over 7.4 million SMEs operating in the country, the service is tailored to meet the growing digital needs of these businesses. By addressing their demand for reliable, high-speed internet, Safaricom aims to ensure these enterprises remain competitive in an increasingly connected global market.
Peter Ndegwa, Safaricom’s CEO, emphasized the transformative potential of the new service. He stated, “The new 5G for Business will empower SMEs to enhance productivity, improve customer interactions, and scale operations efficiently, all while managing their costs.” This commitment aligns with the company’s vision of supporting Kenya’s digital economy.
The revamped packages provide significant upgrades at no additional cost. Businesses on 10 Mbps plans will now enjoy speeds of up to 50 Mbps, while those on 20 Mbps and 50 Mbps plans can upgrade to 100 Mbps and 250 Mbps, respectively. These enhancements are expected to significantly improve the customer experience and boost operational efficiency for SMEs.
To further encourage adoption of the new 5G service, Safaricom is offering a limited-time discount of 25 percent on all 5G plans. This offer is available to businesses that sign up between November 29 and December 31, 2024, making it an ideal time for SMEs to embrace this transformative technology.
