The Kenya Pipeline Company (KPC) has successfully onboarded Syokinet Solutions, an internet service provider (ISP), into its Mombasa-Nairobi fiber optic cable network. This integration marks a significant enhancement in Kenya’s digital infrastructure, providing robust and high-speed gigabit internet connectivity to homes, businesses, and community networks in both cities.

The fiber optic network, with a data capacity of 1.6 TeraBits Per Second (Tbps), will deliver reliable and rapid internet services across the Nairobi-Mombasa corridor. According to KPC Managing Director Joe Sang, this strategic partnership with Syokinet Solutions is set to unlock additional connectivity and elevate the quality of internet services for users between these key urban centers.

Sang emphasized that this initiative represents a crucial advancement in Kenya’s digital infrastructure, aligning with the government’s Digital Superhighway agenda. This agenda aims to accelerate the country’s transformation, job creation, and economic growth by expanding the national digital infrastructure.

The expansion supports the government’s ambitious project to bolster Kenya’s digital backbone, which includes laying 100,000 kilometers of fiber optic cable, establishing 25,000 public Wi-Fi hotspots in market centers, and creating 1,450 digital hubs across various wards. This project is integral to increasing broadband connectivity nationwide.

Syokinet CEO Ian Kasyoki highlighted that by leveraging KPC’s extensive fiber infrastructure, Syokinet aims to enhance the quality of life through improved internet access. This collaboration reflects Syokinet’s commitment to partnering with KPC and supporting the government’s vision of a digitally-enabled society.

KPC has previously onboarded major telcos and ISPs, including Safaricom, MTN, Airtel Network, Jamii Telcom, and Wananchi, to its fiber optic network. This continued expansion underscores the company’s role in advancing Kenya’s digital connectivity and supporting the national digital transformation goals.
