The International Trade Center (ITC) has launched the Medium and Small Enterprises (MSMEs) Financing Gateway in Kenya and Uganda, marking a significant milestone in supporting enterprise development in the region. This new digital platform is designed to provide essential resources and support for MSMEs, offering a comprehensive suite of tools to enhance business growth and sustainability.
Developed for the East African Community (EAC) as part of the EU-EAC Market Access Upgrade Platform (MARKUP), the gateway is funded by the European Union. In Kenya, the platform will be hosted by the Kenya Private Sector Alliance (KEPSA), while in Uganda, it will be managed by the Private Sector Foundation (PSFU). This localized approach ensures that the platform is tailored to the specific needs of each country.
The MSME Financing Gateway provides users with access to a wide range of financing instruments and business services. It enables users to filter, analyze, and match their needs with available resources and link directly to providers at no cost. This streamlined process is designed to make it easier for enterprises to find and secure the support they need.
Beyond financing, the platform offers a variety of tools to support MSME growth. It includes news and event notifications to keep entrepreneurs informed about industry trends and opportunities. Additionally, it features a repository of downloadable learning resources to enhance business knowledge and skills.
Accessible via mobile phones, computers, and tablets, the system provides subscribers with regular updates and notifications via email. This ensures that users are always informed about new facilities and resources. The platform is also designed with a user-friendly workflow system and easy-to-use templates to simplify data updates.
The launch of the MSME Financing Gateway represents a significant advancement in supporting small and medium enterprises in East Africa. By offering a centralized platform for accessing crucial business resources, ITC is paving the way for enhanced growth and development in the region.
