Ecobank Uganda has announced a strategic partnership with Ria Money Transfer, a global leader in cross-border remittance services, to enhance remittance options across Uganda. Through this partnership, customers will have the flexibility to receive funds directly into their Ecobank accounts. For those who prefer, cash transfers can be collected promptly at any Ecobank branch or via the bank’s extensive sub-agent network throughout Uganda. This dual option aims to cater to the diverse needs of customers and streamline the remittance process.
Grace Muliisa, Managing Director of Ecobank Uganda, underscored the importance of this collaboration for Ugandans both in the country and in the diaspora, particularly those residing in the United Kingdom, the United States, and the Middle East. She emphasized that this partnership simplifies the process for Ugandans abroad to send money to their loved ones back home, enhancing the overall efficiency and security of remittance services.
Ms. Muliisa further noted that the partnership aligns with Ecobank’s mission to deliver unmatched convenience in global funds transfer services. It strengthens Ecobank’s position as a trusted partner for the Ugandan diaspora, reflecting the bank’s commitment to providing seamless financial solutions.
El Hadj Malick Seck, Managing Director of Ria Money Transfer – Africa, echoed the enthusiasm, describing the collaboration as a valuable expansion of Ria’s extensive network, which includes over 580,000 physical locations in nearly 200 countries. He highlighted the strategic importance of East Africa, and Uganda in particular, within Ria’s operations.
